Christopher Shands, owner of Archangel Coins,owner began collecting coins at 11 years old. By the time he was 14, he could be found working at local coin shows handling sales and purchases. At 16 he became the youngest board member and officer of the Las Vegas Numismatic Society (LVNS), serving for more than 10 years and is now a current member of the coin clubs trust committee.
The summer after high school, he began working in a local Las Vegas coin shop, where he would return to each summer between college semesters. In 2008, he received the LVNS’ Outstanding Service Award. Joseph Cavallaro, who is Chris’ uncle, has been a lifelong collector and dealer, originally from Lambertville, NJ where he had his coin and antique stores for over 30 years. After moving to Las Vegas, NV he joined the Las Vegas Numismatic Society (LVNS) and a couple of years later, he was elected to the board. Another couple of years passed and he was elected President of the LVNS, a role he has held for over 15 years and continues to date. Under his guidance, the LVNS membership has grown to around 300 members. He was awarded the American Numismatic Association’s (ANA) highest honor, The Presidential Award, by then ANA president Walter Ostromecki. He is well versed in numismatics and antiques, with decades of experience. His is also an avid collector of Flowing Hair, Draped Bust, and Capped Bust Coinage.
Chip Wukitsch began collecting coins at the age of 8 years old in Allentown, PA. By the time he was 18, he was actively buying and selling coins. He worked for Mike Gerlach Coins in Allentown, PA during college. Upon finishing his degree in electrical engineering and economics, he secured a job with PPL but could not resist the lure of the coin shop, so he continued working there in addition to his new job. During this time, he also became a regional promoter of sports card shows. His history here in Las Vegas began in 2013, soon after he joined the local coin club and eventually became a board member. Upon retiring from his high voltage construction job, he found his way back to a love he never really left and now works with the team at Archangel Coins.
The last member of the Archangel Coins team may not be a numismatist, but she attracts a lot of attention. Kira is a Siberian Husky that was adopted from the Animal Foundation in Las Vegas, NV by Christopher Shands when she was less than year old, she is now 7. She enjoys working in the store. Her day consists of greeting people from behind the counter.

My husband and I stopped by Archangel Coins today looking for a gift for a friend. We had brought along some coins we’ve had laying around for awhile, and had decided to sell. We were treated by far, the best we have ever been treated by a coin dealer. We received a full education on what we were buying, as well as a very good price for the coins we were selling!! Much higher than what someone else had offered us.

Having gone to the Nevada Coin Mart, I went to Archangel to see how much my 1964 coins of same 4 cards of the same number of coins.
It’s good that I did not sell all of my coins to Nevada Coin Mart. I should have sold only 2 packs to them.
These guys in Archangel Coins are not greedy and dishonest for doing business for many, many years. I was so grateful to have gone to their store. They paid 7X more than the Nevada Coin Mart paid me.

The BEST coin store in Vegas! I brought my son in today who just started collecting coins. He had a lot of questions and Joe answered every single one with enthusiasm and patience. He also informed us of their youth coin group which we will definitely look into once COVID passes. My son has a new favorite store thanks to Chris and Joe! We will be back very soon!
I went to Archangel Coins when I stopped by in Vegas and can’t say enough good things about this place. It has a wide variety of both high quality and highly interesting coins. I have always been a “get a little bit of every kind of coin” coin collector. They had coins I had never even seen and were very helpful and knowledgeable. They gave me great deals and I plan to add a stop off to visit them anytime I pass through the area. As a side note they also have some very interesting history rich antiques. Not your typical junk but stuff that is memorable enough to be desired for anyone’s collection. I can’t wait for my next stop by this place!
Such a great place! Our 11 year old has been collecting coins and wanted to take some pennies in to get looked at. The staff at Archangel Coins spent plenty of time with our son explaining what he had and what else to look for. It was very encouraging for our son who isn’t always taken seriously by coin shops. This place is great, with some really neat coins and other pieces. A big thank you to them for a great experience!
